I was assassinated on November 22nd, 1963 in Dallas, Texas. I was on a political trip to smooth factions in the Democratic Party between Ralph Yarborough and Don Yarborough (no relation) and John Connally. I was shot in the upper back, and killed with a shot to the head. Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested on charges of murdering a local police officer and m assassination. He denied killing anyone, but was then killed two days later by Jack Ruby before he could be tried. Ruby was then arrested for killing Oswald, then grew ill and died of cancer while his trial date was being set.

During My Presidency
During my presidency, I was involved with a number of ordeals, internationally and within the US, including the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights Movement, and the Cold War. One of my first presidential acts, however, was asking Congress to create the Peace Corps. This program involved Americans volunteering in third world countries to help with things like education, farming, construction, and health care.

My Military Service
I was the first president elected who had served in the US Navy. I served from 1941 to 1945 as a lieutenant. I was first rejected when I volunteered for the US Army in the spring of 1941 because of my troublesome back. Later that year, I was accepted by the Navy. I fought in World War II and the Solomon Islands campaign. During my service, I won the Navy and Marine Corp Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the American Defense Service Medal, along with a few others.

About Me!
I was the youngest president elected at the age of 43 and the youngest to die in office at the age of 46. I appointed my brother, Bobby, to the cabinet post, making me the only president to appoint their sibling to the position. In 1956, I wrote an autobiography called Profiles in Courage. I earned the Pulitzer Prize in 1957, making me the first president to win the Pulitzer Prize. This book describes eight instances in which Senators risked their personal beliefs by standing by their personal beliefs.

Political Career
Once my tour of Duty in WW2 was over, I was interested in being a journalist. My dad's dream took over though, and in 1946, I was swayed to run for public office. I ran and was elected as a Representative of Mass. in Congress. I was re-elected 3 times, and I was often against the stand of President Harry S. Truman on the communist Chinese. In 1952, I ran for US senate and defeated Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. I served for 8 years, before running for President. Unfortunately, I was sidelined in government in 1954 and 1955 due to various aliments. During that time I was second in balloting for the VP position for the 1956 election.
In 1957, I wrote the Pulitzer prize winning "Profiles of Courage". It was a biography on 8 instances when Senators risked their political careers for voting for things they believed in. In 1958, I ran for re-election and won, defeating Republican candidate, Vincent J. Celest. In January of 1960, I declared my candidacy for the Presidency of the United States of America. In the state primaries, I won Wisconsin, West Virginia, Maryland, Oregon, New Hampshire, Indiana, and Nebraska. I defeated Senators Hubert Humpfrey and Wayne Morse in the primaries. At the democratic convention, I was named the Democratic Representative for the election.
I then asked Lyndon B. Johnson, to be my Vice president, much to the dislike of other liberals, including my brother, Robert Kennedy. I needed his influence in the south in order to win the election, which turned out to be the closest election in history. In september and october of 1960 I debated with then Vice President Richard M. Nixon on the first ever televised presidential debate. Nixon, was tense and uncomfortable due to an injured leg. While I was calm and relaxed. The audience then deemed me the winner.
I won the election and was sworn in on January 20th, 1961. I had to deal with the cuban missile crisis, the cold war, the Vietnam war, and the civil rights movement in my time as president. The Cuban Missile crisis was probably the most dangerous of all my situations. In October of 1962, the USSR had placed Nuclear Missiles on the island of Cuba. Cuba was being run by the unstable dictator, Fidel Castro at the time. I was faced with a dilemma, do I attack Cuba and start a nuclear war or do I stay put and show that the US can't be assertive in its' own hemisphere. I decided to negotiate with the communists. Nikita Khrushchev and I made an agreement that if they removed the missiles, we vowed never to invade Cuba again and removed our missiles from Cuba.

JFK's Background
Hi, my name is John Fitzgerald Kennedy. I was born on May 29th, 1917 in Brookline, Mass. I was the second of four sons and one daughter. My father was Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. and my mother was Rose Fitzgerald. When I was ten years old, I moved to a 20 room mansion in Riverdale, Bronx, NYC. Two years later I moved to a 21 room estate 5 miles away. I was a boy scout from 1929 to 1931, and I was the first boy scout to be president. As a young man I attended Canterbury school and I went to Choate boarding school for my high school years. I later graduated from Harvard in 1940 with a science degree. I always felt like I was in my older brothers' shadow, and as a result, I was quite the trouble maker there. In Oct. of 1935 I enrolled late in Princeton College and spent a 6 weeks there. In early 1936, I was hospitalized at Peter Bent Brigham in Boston for possible Leukemia. I recuped at my familys' estate. From there, I was off to Harvard. I went on to be a Mass. Senator, Mass. Represenative, and 35th president of the United States, all as a Democrat.
